Thielsch is proud to announce that one of their own, Mrs. Pamela Hamblin, was recently invited to participate on the ASME Technical Advisory Panel (TAP). Mrs. Hamblin is the Director of Development and Operations for the 4-SYTE Asset Management Programs and has worked at Thielsch for over 19 years.
ASME developed the Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) in response to a new era of continuous and accelerating technological change. The engineering and technology professionals who comprise ASME are indispensable to the world’s success in this new era. For ASME to remain relevant to its constituents and to compete in a truly global marketplace, the Society is actively adapting its institutional approach to meet these extraordinary demands. Guided by its enduring mission “to serve global communities by advancing, disseminating and applying engineering knowledge for improving the quality of life, and communicating the excitement of engineering,” ASME is poised to successfully rise to these challenges. To do so, ASME has recently completed a comprehensive strategic realignment that will reinforce ASME’s position as a global engineering leader. With ASME’s new organizational strategy, they are looking to shift the landscape of the engineering profession by focusing on five core technologies.
Because ASME is renowned for Pressure Technology codes and standards, they are focusing much of their attention on the “Pressure Technology” core, particularly in ways to advance industries such as power generation. These technologies are involved in the design, analysis, materials, fabrication, construction, inspection, operation, nondestructive evaluation, and failure prevention of pressure vessels, piping, pipelines, power and heating boilers, heat exchangers, reactor vessels, pumps, valves, and other pressure and temperature-bearing components. These are all business activities that Thielsch Engineering’s Field Engineering Services group are intimately involved.
Embracing pressure technology will enable ASME to advance its global reach in the areas of codes and standards assessment and training. Energy firms across the world are building power plants and pipeline infrastructure to meet growing energy needs, and they are looking to ASME for best practices in quality assurance, systems reliability and personnel training.
ASME chose just ten individuals from companies within the pressure technologies field to participate on the newly formed TAP advisory panel. Mrs. Hamblin’s involvement in this role speaks volumes to the impact and respect she has acquired in the power industry as being a “thought leader.” As described by ASME in their selection process, those chosen were trusted sources which move and inspire people with innovative ideas; turn ideas into reality, and know and show how to replicate their success.
